Unpublished.ca is a web portal for all Canadians to dig deeper into the issues affecting them and to weigh-in on these issues as they see fit—Expressing themselves through prose, imagery, audio and video, and through direct action by emailing their MP, commenting on issues, publishing opinion pieces, voting in our weekly polls and by sharing content with friends, family and colleagues through email and social media.
Unpublished Media provides the tools for Canadians to engage in our democratic system in a democratic way, so that together, along with Canada’s politicians, media, and Unpublished members and followers can help find the answers Canadians collectively seek—through honest discussion and debate, and through media expression.
Canadians know that in a country this size and this diverse, we must work to understand each other, we must communicate our problems and we must compromise to find solutions that benefit the majority and those in need.
Our politicians need our help. They need our feedback and no matter how much some of them may try to ignore us, a democracy can’t function properly without the active and willing participation of its citizens.
Once upon a time the government tracked mainstream media to gauge public opinion. Now they track social media for any and all mention of the issues that concern Canadians. This means anyone can influence public policy by putting forward a well thought out argument.
So, we urge you to take advantage of Unpublished Media’s tools, to lobby your MP and Canadians across the country, in your province and in your municipality to the merits of your cause. Let’s be true to ourselves and to our history as Canadians. Let’s work together and by doing so strengthen our democracy and our nation.
I look forward to reading your ideas and opinions on Unpublished.ca.
Sincerely,
James O’Grady, Founder
