Hour 1 of Ottawa Now for Tues. April 16th, 2024

April 16, 2024
Walmart Canada is launching a national pilot program, urging customers to recycle their reusable shopping bags. Here is how the program is designed to work. Customers will be able to send in their reusable blue shopping bags to a mail-in recycling program. Yes, even if they are damaged, they will be accepted. At that point, TerraCycle would either wash and donate these Walmart bags to charity partners, or just straight-up recycle them. What are the pros and cons of this gameplan? Kristy Cameron digs deeper with Karen Wirsig, a Plastics Program Manager with Environmental Defence Canada. Plus, an Ottawa homeowner claims that he might be on the hook for the city’s Vacant Unit Tax, even though the property he owns is currently occupied. We get the latest from CTV’s Jackie Perez.
