Fire in Labrador town under control, officials tell residents to stay away

RCMP say the fire that prompted a state of emergency in a Labrador town is now under control.The town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay previously declared a state of emergency because the fire had spread to an area containing explosive material.
A witness at the trial of a former Ottawa firefighter charged with choking an openly non-binary colleague during a dispute over who'd wash the dinner dishes painted a starkly different picture of the accused than the one the complainant described to police, who initially investigated the incident as a hate crime.
