Hour 3 of Ottawa Now for Thurs. April 25th, 2024

April 25, 2024
Food inflation has pushed Canadians to think differently about the food they eat, even if they shouldn’t be eating it. According to a new report from Dalhousie University’s Agri-Food Analytics Lab, nearly 60 percent of respondents were more inclined to digest expired food products due to today’s sky-high prices. In case you were wondering, this survey collected the opinions of 9,000 people. Out of that group, Gen-Z and Millennials were the most likely to believe they fell ill after eating spoiled foods. Half of the participants also turned to different food storage methods to extend the product’s shelf life. Are you one of them, and what risks are you taking by doing this? Stefan Keyes tackles today’s Question of the Day. Plus, Ottawa city councillors have approved a motion that would study the possibility of an anti-renovictions bylaw. The motion itself doesn’t approve such a bylaw, but it enables city staff to study the idea further and provide a series of estimated costs.
