Hamilton woman excited to 'shed a new light' on slam poetry after winning national title

Hamilton-based poet Karessa McQueen won the Canadian Individual Poetry Slam competition in April. She got back into poetry last year after a long break and won with a final, deeply personal poem about domestic violence.
