Ban on commercial dog walkers at Toronto’s Ramsden Park spotlights use of off-leash areas

Toronto is developing criteria to determine which sites would be acceptable for commercial dog walkers to use across the city, as a ban on the walkers at an off-leash area in one park has brought the issue under the spotlight.The issue came before city council this summer, when a two-part motion brought by Coun. Dianne Saxe was passed in late June.

The union representing HandyDART workers in Metro Vancouver says a tentative agreement has been reached with the company that runs the door-to-door transit service, after an 18-day strike and months of bargaining.The Amalgamated Transit Union says Local 1724 will hold a ratification vote in the coming days.About 600 HandyDART employees had been on strike since early September, pausing all service except essential medical trips.
