Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is set to be in New York this week for the 78th meeting of the United Nations General Assembly and the Summit of the Future amid increasing geopolitical instability around the world.“Canada will have a leading role in making the world fairer and more prosperous,” Trudeau said in a news release last week. “I look forward to working with other leaders to accelerate progress on our shared priorities and build a better future for everyone.”

New Democratic Party Leader David Eby is promising a tax cut to help the middle class cope with the rising cost of living, starting with a $1,000 cheque for most British Columbian households next year, if his party wins the election on Oct. 19.The NDP says taxes would be reduced by about $500 for individuals who make $125,000 a year or less, or about $1,000 for households with a combined income of $250,000 or less.
