Hundreds of Barrhaven residents gathered on Tuesday night to protest a City of Ottawa proposal, which would install tent-like structures to shelter as much as 300 asylum seekers. Each tent would have a capacity of 150, filled with people who are either fleeing war or persecution. And while there is no final decision on the tent’s location, it is causing a fair bit of controversy within the suburban community. Barrhaven East councillor Wilson Lo joins Kristy Cameron in Hour 2. Speaking of encampments, Gatineau Police have torn down a setup near the Robert Guertin Arena, with eviction notices in hand. CTV’s Katie Griffin delivers the details. British Columbia’s River Forecast Centre has issued a flood warning for a stretch of the north coast that has been soaked with heavy rain since Wednesday.An advisory from the centre says rivers around communities including Stewart, Terrace, Prince Rupert and Kitimat have been rising rapidly and forecasts suggest the potential for water to reach or exceed the 20-year flow in some areas on Thursday.It says the focus is on rivers and tributaries around Kitimat, but similar conditions can be expected to the north including in Terrace, Prince Rupert and Nass River tributaries, as well as...
