Protest against Giller Prize sponsors planned outside of gala in Toronto

Controversy yet again cast a shadow over Giller Prize festivities as protesters promised to gather at Monday’sgala hours before it was set to hand out the $100,000 award.The group known as CanLit Responds – working as part of a campaign called No Arms in the Arts – says members including authors and book industry workers planned to set up a picket line and stage a “Boycott Giller” counter-gala outside the ceremony at the Toronto Park Hyatt Hotel.
