November 25, 2024
Current and former Canada Soccer head coaches, executives and players should be forced to testify in front of a parliamentary committee about the drone-spying scandal at the Paris Olympics that has “damaged Canada’s reputation,” an NDP motion tabled Monday says.New Democratic MP Niki Ashton, a member of the standing committee on Canadian heritage, filed a notice of motion in response to recent reporting by The Globe and Mail about workplace and spying issues inside the women’s soccer program under former head coach Bev Priestman. Canada Soccer has said the spying problems began under her predecessor, John Herdman, who is now head coach of Toronto’s Major League Soccer club, TFC.
