Ontario SIU investigating women’s police-involved death after fall from balcony

Authorities in Toronto are investigating the police-involved balcony death of a woman who died this week, nearly five years after a remarkably similar death prompted mass protests in the city.Kristy Denette, a spokesperson for Ontario’s Special Investigation Unit said that, based on preliminary accounts, the SIU has heard from Toronto Police Service officials that officers were speaking to a 44-year-old woman in a High Park Avenue apartment and attempting to bring her into custody when she tried to flee.
