The leader of Alberta’s Opposition New Democratic Party is demanding a series of investigations into allegations government officials, including Premier Danielle Smith’s then-chief of staff, interfered with the provincial health authority’s procurement process on behalf of private companies.The Alberta government terminated Athana Mentzelopoulos as Alberta Health Service’s chief executive on Jan. 8, two days before she was scheduled to meet with the province’s Auditor-General about her internal investigation into the procurement processes.
