RCMP Commissioner says ‘no data’ that fentanyl is moving south in mass quantities

The head of the RCMP says he sees no evidence that significant volumes of fentanyl from Canada are being smuggled into the United States.The deadly opioid is a pressing Canadian problem, RCMP Commissioner Michael Duheme says. However, he stressed that he is not aware of numbers that show fentanyl is crossing south in what U.S. President Donald Trump calls massive quantities to justify threats of tariffs on this country. The levies on all Canadian imports could be announced as soon as Tuesday.
Quebec provincial police are investigating after a body was found in a burned vehicle in the Estrie region east of Montreal late Sunday.Police spokesperson Camille Savoie says officers received a call about a vehicle fire at about 9:45 p.m. in the town of Brome Lake.Responding officers found the victim inside the vehicle, and the person was declared dead at the scene.
