Federal policy paper calls for RCMP split to aid transnational investigations

The Mounties should be split up so that their investigators can focus on fighting complex crimes such as fentanyl trafficking and foreign interference, says a new federal policy paper championed by departing Prime Minister Justin Trudeau but opposed by RCMP leaders.The overhaul outlined in the policy paper, released Monday, follows years of criticisms that the Mounties are a sprawling, thinly staffed police force that has absorbed too many responsibilities to be effective.

The letter said patients who received endometrial biopsies, IUD insertions or had cervical growths removed at the clinic should get tested for potential infection.
