Manitoba bill takes aim at deep fakes, election disinformation, voter misdirection

The Manitoba government has put forward a bill aimed at cracking down on election disinformation.If passed into law, the bill would expand existing prohibitions on disseminating false information about candidates and impersonating election officials.It would also ban intentionally misleading information, in the time leading up to an election, about voter eligibility, the conduct of elections officials and the people who provide ballots and vote-counting machines.
