The former chief executive of Alberta’s health authority, in her first public statement after filing a wrongful dismissal suit, says the government is trying to “deflect from the truth” by attacking her character.Athana Mentzelopoulos, who is suing her ex-employer and Health Minister Adriana LaGrange, has alleged that government officials interfered in health care deals at Alberta Health Services on behalf of private companies. She was terminated on Jan. 8, two days before a planned meeting with the Auditor-General to discuss her investigation into procurement contracts and inflated deals for private surgical facilities, according to her statement of claim.
