Carney in Europe to strengthen ties with France, Britain

Prime Minister Mark Carney has arrived in Paris for meetings with French President Emmanuel Macron as the first step of the new Prime Minister’s promise to shore up Canada’s resilience to the chaos caused by U.S. President Donald Trump.As a first stop: a global symbol of resilience. Mr. Carney visited the Notre Dame cathedral, destroyed by fire in 2019 but restored and reopened in 2024, an effort hailed by Mr. Macron as giving a “shock of hope” to his country.
