Orléans is located in eastern Ottawa, south of the Ottawa River and east of Vanier. It includes the suburbs of Notre-Dame-des-Champs and Carlsbad Springs. The riding stretches to the Prescott-Russell Recreational Trail in the south, Greens Creek in the west and Cardinal Creek in the east. As four space tourists orbited the north and south poles earlier this month and marvelled at the views of Earth, a group of Canadians celebrated an X-ray image taken aboard the spacecraft using technology developed at the University of Waterloo.“This is the first X-ray ever done in space,” said Amol Karnick, CEO of KA Imaging, a Waterloo-based company that’s commercializing what it calls the world’s first multi-image X-ray detector.“It’s a first for Canadians in space.”

Rural and northern Ontario hospitals are anxiously awaiting word from the provincial government on a program that helps them keep emergency rooms open, after it ended last month.Health Minister Sylvia Jones’ office has said it is working on a permanent solution after the temporary program expired, but in the meantime the people who work to keep ERs open are concerned about filling those shifts.
