Hour 2 of Ottawa Now for Thurs. April 3rd, 2025

April 3, 2025
A five-storey building in Bells Corners was nearing completion until a massive fire burned it to the very ground it stood on. It was so big that it put several nearby buildings at risk, including Bell High School. Thankfully, nobody was hurt and the torn-to-shreds building was unoccupied when the blaze broke out. As a kind gesture of gratitude, a retirement home is hosting a ‘thank you’ luncheon for every single firefighter who battled and eventually contained Tuesday’s blaze. Kristy Cameron chats with Adriana Olvera, the General Manager of Thorncliffe Place Retirement Home. Shifting gears back to U.S. President Trump, his tariffs are not solely targeting Canada, or even Mexico. Today, they are targeting everyone that he feels has taken advantage of America’s generosity over the years, a move that Trump himself has dubbed ‘Liberation Day’. And boy, did the stock market take a gut-punch 24 hours later. We speak to former Foreign Affairs Minister Peter MacKay in Hour 2.
