Less than 24 hours after the U.S. launched auto tariffs on Canada, our country is returning the favour. Mark Carney, acting in his capacity as Prime Minister, made the announcement official earlier today. America has stricken Canada with 25 percent tariffs on various Auto sector parts. For any U.S. vehicles who are not compliant with CUSMA, Canada will be slapping 25 percent retaliatory tariffs on every single one of them. Meantime, the fallout from these tariffs has already begun, as automaker Stellantis has made the difficult decision to shut down its massive Windsor assembly plant for 2 straight weeks. In America, 900 workers have also received temporary layoffs. A grey whale among a population that is listed as a special concern in Canada has washed ashore on a Vancouver Island beach. Parks Canada says the whale was spotted floating offshore on May 6, then it landed the next day on Long Beach in Pacific Rim National Park Reserve near Tofino.
