Stepping up for hope: Alberta man walks 10 km just 7 months after regaining ability to walk

Despite losing the ability to walk nearly 13 years ago, Rylan Laplante walked 10 kilometres on Saturday to raise funds for the Alberta Children's Hospital in Calgary.
As more than 55,000 people participated in the 56th Annual Walk With Israel event in Toronto on Sunday, pro-Palestinian protesters lined part of the route.The event, which organizers say is Canada’s largest Jewish community gathering, was taking place after a week of redoubled international tension over Israel’s war in Gaza. But it remained peaceful despite concerns from organizers and police.

Rory Linkletter, who wanted his first-ever victory in marathon to occur on home soil, finished second on Sunday morning in Ottawa in two hours eight minutes 31 seconds. A day earlier, Quebec City's Charles Philibert-Thiboutot lowered the Canadian record in the 10K.
