Ontario horse trainer suspended 10 years for buying performance-enhancing drugs

The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) says Guelph-area horse trainer Jeffrey Gillis has been suspended for 10 years and given a $40,000 fine for purchasing performance-enhancing drugs from a U.S. veterinarian, who has been charged for making and distributing PEDs designed to evade equine anti-doping controls.
Although the suspect in a firearm discharge in Petawawa in March remains at large, the investigation of that incident has led this past week to the arrest of eight other individuals and the seizure of more than $2.5 million worth of illegal drugs, police say. Read More
