Smoke from Western Canada wildfires drifts into N.L., parts of U.S.

Swaths of smoke from wildfires that have torched buildings and forced thousands from their homes in Western Canada have drifted as far as Newfoundland and Labrador in the east and Texas in the south.People in the northern and heavily populated southern areas of Manitoba and Saskatchewan are feeling it the worst, as that’s where a majority of Canada’s wildfires are burning, said Natalie Hasell of Environment Canada.

Police in North Vancouver say an 11-year-old child is dead and another is in hospital after a speed boat hit them while they were being towed on an inner tube on Saturday.North Vancouver RCMP shared details of the collision at a news conference on Sunday afternoon.They say the driver of the speed boat is in custody but has yet to be charged.
