Upcoming road closures in Little Italy for the annual Italian Festival

The fun and celebration of Italian culture returns as the Ottawa Italian Festival takes over Little Italy between Friday, June 6 and Sunday, June 8. The festival highlights music, dance and cuisine from all over Italy, and Preston Street will be a hub for a host of activities like street parties and car parades. During the festival, there are several traffic and transit impacts.
Friday, June 6:
- Queen Elizabeth Driveway, between Preston Street and Torrington Place, is closed between 6 am and 5 pm for the Dows lake Concorso d’Eleganza.
- Preston Street, between Carling Avenue and Somerset Street West, is closed between 4 pm and 1 am for the Preston Street Party.
- Preston Street, between Prince of Wales Drive and Carling Avenue, is closed between 6 pm on Friday, June 6 and 11 pm on Saturday, June 7 for the Ferrari Demonstration Zone.
- Carling Avenue, between Sherwood Drive and Bronson Avenue, is closed between 6 pm on Friday, June 6 and 11 pm on Saturday, June 7 for the Ferrari Demonstration Zone.
- Preston Street, between Carling Avenue and Somerset Street West, is closed between 12 pm and 1 am for the Preston Street Party and Italian Car Parade.
- Preston Street, between Carling Avenue and Somerset Street West, is closed between 11 am and 9 pm for the Preston Street Party and St. Anthony’s Procession.
Former VISP workers described a culture that was more play than work. 'I felt like I was there to kind of hang out and socialize,' one said. 'It was kind of like school in a way.'
