The report into the infamous ArriveCan app wasn’t the only breakdown we got from Canada’s Auditor General today. In a separate release, it says the feds have been slow in their efforts to reduce office space. Since 2019, Public Services and Procurement Canada had plans to reduce its office footprint. It’s now 2025, a whopping 6 years later, and there has only been a 2 percent reduction. That’s because full-scale implementation only began last year, a reality that was fueled by a lack of funding. One day when he was a kid, Bruce McKean heard a noise coming from a rooming house near his home in Victoria. He went inside and found that the wood stacked beside the furnace was in flames. He yelled “fire.” The firemen came and extinguished it. Young Bruce had saved the day.But instead of thanking him, the people who ran the rooming house chewed him out.
