On Wednesday’s show, we briefly dove into the basics of intersection safety, and examined the troubling trends that Canadian cities are facing right now. Today, it’s red-light cameras, and the somewhat-positive trends we’ve been noticing lately. King Edward Avenue is home to a trio of Ottawa’s 10 busiest red-light cameras in 2025. To be fair, that’s a long stretch of traffic ground to cover. However, in a section of Lowertown, that camera has snagged fewer red-light runners in the first 4 months of this year. Is this a sign that people are getting the message, or are today’s drivers finding different shortcuts? Rideau-Vanier councillor Stephanie Plante joins the program in Hour 1. Wildfire smoke in several parts of the country is forcing summer camp providers whose communities are under air quality warnings to shift activities indoors or make other changes to keep campers safe.Environment Canada issued special air quality statements or warnings on Monday for much of Central Canada, Manitoba and Saskatchewan owing to smoke from wildfires in northern Ontario and the Prairies, while smoke also drifted into Quebec and Atlantic Canada.
