King Charles III has delivered the Throne Speech inside Canada’s House of Commons, marking the start of the country’s 45th Parliament. It marks the first time in nearly 50 years that a member of the British Monarchy was asked to vocalize such a mission statement. It laid out Prime Minister Mark Carney’s goals for the upcoming Parliamentary season, but it also featured a handful of powerful and personal messages from King Charles himself. Today’s speech was meant to showcase Canada’s unity, and to also send a message to U.S. President Donald Trump. Do you think it met those expectations? Kristy Cameron digs deeper with Philippe Chartrand, the Chairman for the Ottawa Chapter of the Monarchist League of Canada. Ahead of today’s announcement, Elgin Street was lined with onlookers, hoping to catch a glimpse of King Charles III and Queen Camilla as they entered the country’s political sanctuary. CTV’s Katie Griffin has more on that. And in local news, we have tragic details emerging from a Barrhaven neighbourhood, as two people have been found dead inside a home on Pheasant Run Drive. CTV’s Austin Lee drops by the Hal Anthony studios in Hour 1.
