The first wireless call in Canadian history took place 40 years ago on July 1, 1985, when then-Toronto-mayor Art Eggelton called his Montreal counterpart Jean Drapeau.
Former VISP workers described a culture that was more play than work. 'I felt like I was there to kind of hang out and socialize,' one said. 'It was kind of like school in a way.'
