Hour 2 of Ottawa Now for Tues. June 3rd, 2025

June 3, 2025

We’re finally getting that Summer weather we’ve been waiting for, but at what cost? Burning wildfires in Central Canada are blowing nasty smoke in our general direction, causing hazy air and a crappy air quality. In fact, as we get deeper into the Afternoon and Evening hours, we are looking at a 4-Moderate Risk. If you dare to step outside, are your lungs and organs playing with fire? Tanzina Mohsin, a climatologist and University of Toronto professor, drops by for a chat. As we focus on a lifeline for children’s healthcare this week, let’s not forget that June is also Stroke Month. According to a new report from the Heart and Stroke Foundation, more than 108,000 strokes happen every year in our country. That’s roughly one stroke every 5 minutes. This data shows it’s also happening more often to younger people, and in unexpected ways. Take it from 36-year-old Paramjit Bahniwal, a stroke survivor and advocate. She joins Chris Holski in Hour 2.
