Food gardens take root on the front lawn

One hundred and fifty tomato plants blanketed Alea Cardarelli’s front yard in Gatineau in the summer of 2022. The unconventional garden was born from a promise Ms. Cardarelli made to her husband: he’d never have to mow their patchy lawn again.
A rainfall warning has been issued for a wide swath of the Outaouais to the north and west of Gatineau, Que., while thunderstorm watches are in place elsewhere in the region.
