Toronto’s homeless population more than doubled between 2021 and 2024 in post-pandemic spike

A newly released survey shows the number of homeless people in Toronto has more than doubled between the spring of 2021 and last fall. Toronto’s Street Needs Assessment survey estimates that 15,400 people were homeless in Toronto last October, up from about 7,300 in April 2021.
The owner of Woodstock Duty Free Shop says he used to see about 200 customers daily in the summer months. Now, he gets about 20.
