Ontario government orders public servants back to office five days a week starting 2026

August 14, 2025

Ontario public service employees are being ordered to increase their time at the office this fall, and by 2026 will be required to be in the office five days a week, the provincial government announced Thursday.

Workers who had previously attended the office for a minimum of three days a week will be required to attend four days a week starting on Oct. 20. Starting Jan. 5, 2026, workers will be expected to be in office full-time.
