Fans rally to save Québécois French dubbing of The Simpsons

The uniquely Quebec version of The Simpsons – dubbed in Québécois French and featuring local place names, politicians, current events and popular expressions – has come to an abrupt end, leaving fans without their beloved adaptation.
An online petition launched last week to save “Les Simpsons” has garnered more than 22,000 signatures as of Monday. Spearheaded by Quebecker Joshua Biasotto, the petition calls on Disney+ Canada to ensure new seasons of the show on the streaming service are dubbed in Québécois.

OTTAWA — Prime Minister Mark Carney appointed his principal secretary and former Liberal justice minister David Lametti to be Canada’s ambassador to the United Nations on Thursday.
In a release, Carney announced Lametti would take the reins of one of Canada’s biggest foreign missions on Nov. 17.
Lametti will replace Bob Rae, an outspoken ambassador for Canada who seldom shied away from criticizing foreign nations on the country’s behalf (on some rare occasions, to the chagrin of the Liberal government).
