Ottawa Now - Barrhaven Food Cupboard reeling after thieves strike twice in August

August 29, 2025

The Barrhaven Food Cupboard is reeling after batches of food went missing from its community garden. According to Matt Triemstra, the Director of Communications for the community lifeline, the first theft unfolded on August 11th. Then, 17 days later, they were hit again. And now, ahead of the Labour Day Weekend, it is trying to make up for the lost produce through fundraising efforts. Triemstra joins Kristy Cameron on Ottawa Now.
