Traffic impacts for this weekend’s Canada Army Run

Check out the street closures and transit information for this weekend's Canada Army Run.

The 18th annual Canada Army Run will have participants running, walking and rolling through Ottawa’s downtown core on Sunday, September 21. Road users should plan ahead for additional travel time on their trip or select alternate routes.

Parking restrictions will also be in effect along the entire route. So, please refer to all on-street posted signage. Any vehicle parked in a temporary no-stopping zone will be removed from the roadway.

The Canada Army Run will result in the following streets being closed during these approximate times:

 

From 6 am to 2 pm:

  • Laurier Avenue West, between Nicholas Street and Metcalfe Street
  • Elgin Street northbound, between Lisgar Street and Queen Street
  • Mackenzie Avenue, between Sussex Drive and Rideau Street
  • Rideau Street, between Elgin Street and Dalhousie Street

From 6 am to 3 pm:

  • Elgin Street northbound between Queen Street and Wellington Street
  • Queen Elizabeth Drive between Lawrence Frieman Lane and Somerset Street West

From 7 am to 11 am:

  • Laurier Avenue West, between Metcalfe Street and Bay Street
  • O’Connor Street between Wellington Street and Laurier Avenue West
  • Bay Street, between Laurier Avenue West and Wellington Street
  • Wellington Street, between Portage Bridge and Elgin Street
  • Lyon Street North, between Wellington Street and Laurier Avenue West

From 7 am to 2 pm:

  • Sussex Drive, between Rideau Street and Princess Avenue
  • Princess Avenue, between Sussex Drive and Lisgar Road
  • Alexandra Bridge
  • Lisgar Road, between Mariposa Avenue and Rideau Terrace/Dufferin Road
  • Dufferin Road southbound lane, between Rideau Terrace and MacKay Street
  • MacKay Street eastbound lane, between Dufferin Road and Sussex Drive

From 8 am to 2 pm:

  • Rideau Terrace westbound lane, between Dufferin Road and Acacia Avenue
  • Corona Avenue, between Acacia Avenue and Beechwood Avenue
  • Beechwood Avenue, between Joliette Avenue and Hemlock Road
  • Hemlock Road, between Beechwood Avenue and Birch Avenue
  • Birch Avenue southbound lane, between Hemlock Road and Sir George Etienne Cartier Parkway
  • Sir George Etienne Cartier Parkway, between Aviation Parkway and Sussex Drive

Transit Service

O-Train Line 1 service will begin at 6 am to help participants get to the event and will run until 11 pm. Buses along the event route will be detoured due to street closures.
