Macron stuck in Trump's traffic in New York, reportedly phones the U.S. president to 'clear the way'

September 23, 2025

French President Emmanuel Macron, who was blocked by Donald Trump’s motorcade in New York on Monday night, reportedly called the U.S. president and asked him to “clear the road.”

In a video posted online by European news outlet Visegrad24, a police officer apologizes to Macron and tells him that a motorcade is on its way.

“I don’t see it,” replies Macron. “Let me cross.”

While he was forced to wait, Macron decided to take it upon himself to call Trump, per The Telegraph and Daily Mail .

“Guess what? I’m waiting (on) the street because everything is frozen for you,” Macron says in the video, and then laughs at the response. The video then cuts to Macron speaking on the phone while walking, and later, posing for pictures with some people on the street.

One man even decided to plant a kiss on Macron’s forehead as he waited for the photo to be taken.

According to The Telegraph, the French president was heading toward the French embassy.

Both Trump and Macron, along with dozens of others from around the world, are in New York for the UN General Assembly.

Trump arrived on Monday evening , around 7:30 p.m. ET.

Earlier on Monday, France recognized Palestinian statehood — a decision that is in direct opposition to the Trump administration’s stance on the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

Trump is expected to speak at the UN on Tuesday morning. He is also set to take part in meetings before going back to the White House late Tuesday night.

It is Wednesday night at the Lion’s Gate banquet hall in Barrie, Ont., an hour north of Toronto. A Toronto Blue Jays playoff game is on the big screen, but Michael Ryan is focused on the task before him: getting a beanbag through the hole in a tilted board exactly 27 feet away. He grips one of his Viper-brand beanbags, draws his arm back, plants his foot and throws, putting a slight spin on the bag to guide its trajectory. It lands on the board with a satisfying thump, slides forward and disappears – plop – through the hole. “Nice bag, Mike,” says a competitor.

NEW YORK — Twenty-four years ago, a murderous yet methodical squadron of Islamic terrorists tore out the beating heart of New York City in the name of their particular understanding of God. On Nov. 4, it is likely that a beaming, bearded young Muslim from the far left flank of American politics — a card-carrying Democratic Socialist, no less — will be elected as the 111th mayor (all of them men) of the capital of capitalism, riding a pita-in-the-sky cyclone of no-fare transit, cheap apartments, discount groceries and anti-Zionist rage from the river (Hudson) to the sea (Atlantic) and...
