Hour 2 of Ottawa Now for Wed. September 24th, 2025

There are roughly 50 small-scale homeless encampments dispersed throughout Canada’s Capital. According to recent complaints from residents in Sandy Hill and Lowertown, it’s taking the municipality far too long to respond to these encampment surges. Meantime, city officials are pointing to a shortage of police officers as a reason for these response backlogs. That led to Tuesday’s motion at the city’s Community Services Committee from Rideau-Vanier councillor Stephanie Plante, who is calling for more transparency over how the city responds to encampment complaints. She joins Kristy Cameron in Hour 2. Meantime, as we slowly inch closer to New Year's Day, the city's return-to-work saga doesn't seemed to be a closed-door issue yet. However, if the door is open for debate, is it a small crack or a gaping hole? We try to get some clarity. Plus, if you ever find the Prime Minister's bank account, don't access it. Otherwise, you'll turn into a 23-year-old who loses his job and has some tough questions to answer. CFRA's Chris Holski delivers the details.
