Ontario school boards call on Premier Ford to halt planned speed-camera ban

Ontario’s school boards are jointly urging the provincial government not to proceed with Premier Doug Ford’s plan to get rid of speed cameras.

A statement Monday from the province’s four publicly funded school board associations is just the latest in a series of groups supporting the automated enforcement tools, including municipalities, the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police and research from the Hospital for Sick Children.

Ontario announced on Wednesday that 25 fertility clinics will receive the first round of funding as a part of its $250-million plan to reduce waiting lists for in vitro fertilization and “triple” the number of families that can access expensive fertility treatments.The announcement provided details from the province’s first major expansion of its Ontario Fertility Program, which launched in 2015 to help people struggling with infertility pay for procedures such as IVF.
