  Ontario will apply new limits on residency applications from international medical graduates

  Ontario is limiting first-round applications for residency positions from international medical graduates to only those who completed at least two years of high school in the province before studying abroad.
The Ontario government announced the change on Wednesday, midway through the application period that ends on Nov. 27. International medical graduates, or IMGs, who did not attend an Ontario high school must now wait until the second round to apply for any unfilled positions.
    Concerned about deep cutbacks at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and “a move away from science-based decision making,” the Canadian Food Inspection Agency has quietly struck a “US Risk Task Team” to monitor the impact of regulatory changes on food imports.According to internal government documents, the federal agency is concerned that significant changes at the FDA, including staff cuts and lighter regulations, will heighten the risk associated with food and commodity imports from the United States, which would complicate cross-border trade and erode consumer trust if problems...
