Hour 1 of Ottawa Now for Mon. October 20th, 2025

October 20, 2025

Earlier today, Ottawa’s Mayor delivered an update on the Lansdowne 2.0 redevelopment and construction approval plan. Mark Sutcliffe said taxpayers should be encouraged by this announcement, with the annual investment down from an estimated $5 million to $4.3 million. A new 5,500 seat event centre and North Side stand installation at TD Place will now cost $313 million, and the full construction project value now sits at $418 million. Following a previous LRT construction debacle, CTV’s Leah Larocque asked Mayor Sutcliffe if there were any reservations with choosing the lowest bidder. Sutcliffe says there are significant contingencies in place to prevent similar challenges from creeping up. Larocque joins Kristy Cameron in Hour 1. Speaking of public transit, full Line 2 service between Mooney’s Bay and South Keys has been restored after it was shut down for several hours this morning. Reports confirm that a Rogers Communications line had been vandalized, leading to the sudden shutdown. CFRA’s Chris Holski has more on that, as well as the musical soundtrack that could accompany a handful of LRT stations on Tuesday. But first, we bring you up to speed on today’s top headlines.
