Hour 2 of Ottawa Now for Mon. October 27th, 2025

October 27, 2025

Retail thefts are on the rise in Canada’s Capital, as new stats being presented to the Ottawa Police Services Board. It shows that shoplifting offences have skyrocketed by 384 percent over the last 10 years. Meantime, violent crimes and car thefts are also up, but not by as much. Ottawa Police Chief Eric Stubbs joins Kristy Cameron in Hour 2. Turning back to provincial politics, the Ford government has walked back on considerations of a proposal that would have ended rent control and indefinite leases. Paying us a visit to deliver his reaction is Edward Roue, the Chair of ACORN’s Central Ottawa Chapter. Plus, the Toronto Blue Jays are trying to shake off a Game 2 defeat, as the 2025 World Series moves to Tinseltown for the next 3 games. A sweep at Chavez Ravine would end Toronto’s best chance to break its championship drought. Another win for the Jays would ensure that the Fall Classic gets decided on Canadian soil. CFRA’s Andrew Pinsent has a preview.
