Union leaders pan new Quebec bill that makes some union dues optional

Quebec's Labour Minister Jean Boulet tabled a bill Thursday meant to increase transparency within unions, but union leaders are already coming out saying the legislation amounts to interference in their internal affairs.

The title claim filed by the western Quebec First Nation encompasses eight main areas, including Gatineau Park, the Baskatong Reservoir, and the Papineau-Labelle wildlife reserve. It also includes a $5-billion lawsuit against several parties, including the Quebec and federal governments.
