Ottawa Now - Former councillor, present-day Ontario MPP voices concerns over speed camera shutdown

November 4, 2025

For the next 11 days, Ottawa’s 60 photo radar cameras will continue to keep a watchful eye for speeding motorists. After that, their time is up. The province has told the City of Ottawa to shut down every single speed camera on their active roster, a request that will be granted on November 14th. They will soon be replaced by large signs with flashing lights, designed to slow down drivers in areas where those cameras are normally located. The deadline for those installations is September of next year. Kristy Cameron chats with NDP MPP Catherine McKenney, who represents Ottawa Centre at Queen’s Park and once served as a city councillor for Somerset Ward. They voice their concerns on Ottawa Now.
