Mixed feelings in Nova Scotia riding after Tory MP Chris d’Entremont crosses floor

November 6, 2025

In a Nova Scotia village that was founded on loyalty and government allegiance, there is both scorn and merriment for their MP, Chris d’Entremont, who stunned the country and especially his own constituents here in the Annapolis Valley, when he jumped ship to the Liberals this week.

Greenwood, home to the largest Air Force Base in Atlantic Canada, was founded in the 1770s by United Empire Loyalists who refused to betray the British Crown they’d sworn allegiance to after the American Revolution. Today it’s referred to as Kingston-Greenwood, a lunchpail community of 7,000 with two Tim Hortons and an aviation museum. It’s renowned for its summertime steer barbecue and the base, apparent by all the folks going around in bright green military fatigues.
