N.W.T. residential school grave exhumed, child’s remains repatriated to family

The grave of a residential school victim was exhumed, and the child's remains were returned to her home community. Five-year-old Alma Beaulieu died at St Joseph's school in 1944.
The B.C. legislature was in turmoil Wednesday after BC Conservatives attempted to oust their leader, John Rustad, by declaring him unfit for the job. A lawyer’s letter released by the Conservative Party said 20 members of the Official Opposition caucus – a bare majority – had lost confidence in Mr. Rustad. The party’s board declared a new interim leader, MLA Trevor Halford, to serve while it begins the preparations for a leadership contest.

An Ottawa hospital has seen an eightfold increase in the number of children testing positive for influenza, as doctors and health care workers across the country brace for what is expected to be one of the worst flu seasons in years.Ottawa’s Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario on Wednesday said 145 patients tested positive for the flu in November compared with just 17 positive tests during the same month last year. Hospitalizations have doubled to 12.
