The City of Ottawa is mulling over the potential purchase of a private landfill in the East End. According to city staff members, it’s a rare opportunity to help address Ottawa’s future garbage disposal dilemma. And earlier today, the Finance and Corporate Services Committee held a vote, with 8 of 11 voters voting in favour. However, as one might expect, the project’s biggest critics are raising a big stink about Friday’s outcome. Lucie Régimbald is the Vice-President of the Capital Region Citizens Coalition for Environment Protection. She explains why she is giving this idea a major thumbs-down.

Conservation officers in British Columbia say they are hoping to trap three grizzly bears as part of the search for the animal that attacked a group of elementary school students and their teachers on Thursday.An update from the B.C.
