The City of Ottawa is mulling over the potential purchase of a private landfill in the East End. According to city staff members, it’s a rare opportunity to help address Ottawa’s future garbage disposal dilemma. And earlier today, the Finance and Corporate Services Committee held a vote, with 8 of 11 voters voting in favour. However, as one might expect, the project’s biggest critics are raising a big stink about Friday’s outcome. Lucie Régimbald is the Vice-President of the Capital Region Citizens Coalition for Environment Protection. She explains why she is giving this idea a major thumbs-down.

The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra has sent a cease and desist letter to a violinist who publicly accused the organization of retaliating against her for filing a sexual-assault complaint against one of its senior members.The musician, Esther Hwang, received the legal demand last week, a day after the Globe and Mail published a story about her complaint. In speaking publicly, Ms. Hwang, 30, violated a confidentiality agreement that she had signed in 2019 with the orchestra.
