Ottawa Now - Downtown bar owner calls for a city-wide review of bylaw enforcement

The co-owner of a ByWard Market bar is venting her frustrations over a recent stretch of strict parking enforcement. Deek Labelle, who manages and co-owns the Chateau Lafayette on York Street, is calling for a city-wide review of Ottawa Bylaw Services, arguing that enforcement in the area is getting out of hand. Labelle also wants clarity from City Hall on Ottawa’s parking restrictions, and how unnecessary tickets can be minimized moving forward. She joins Kristy Cameron on today’s Ottawa Now.
B.C. Premier David Eby says public drug use will not be permitted when the province’s contentious decriminalization trial comes up for renewal at the end of this month.But it remains to be seen whether his government will seek to extend the pilot in any iteration. After successive amendments, drug decriminalization in B.C. is currently limited largely to private residences.
