A portion of a British Columbia highway linking the Lower Mainland to Alberta that's been closed since atmospheric rivers washed away sections of the road earlier has reopened.

The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra has sent a cease and desist letter to a violinist who publicly accused the organization of retaliating against her for filing a sexual-assault complaint against one of its senior members.The musician, Esther Hwang, received the legal demand last week, a day after the Globe and Mail published a story about her complaint. In speaking publicly, Ms. Hwang, 30, violated a confidentiality agreement that she had signed in 2019 with the orchestra.
