Immigration officials in Minneapolis have shot and killed the wife of a prominent activist. The Department of Homeland Security says it happened during an immigration crackdown, as the woman allegedly tried to run over law enforcement officers. However, the Mayor of Minneapolis is putting that claim into question, and a series of viral videos are doing the same. CFRA’s Andrew Pinsent delivers the latest developments. Meantime, a new report from Deloitte Canada says the country’s economic growth will slow down in 2026, falling from 1.7 percent to 1.5 percent. OTTAWA — During a ceremony this week to unveil his official portrait, former prime minister Stephen Harper made a point of mentioning the tie he’s wearing in the painting.
The colours, the former prime minister pointed out during the ceremony in downtown Ottawa, represent the three key elements of Canada’s Conservatives: dark blue for the “Tories of old,” green for the “western, populist tradition” and Preston Manning’s Reform Party, and sky blue for the conservative tradition of Quebec nationalists and francophones across the country.
